      Skin Testing

Is it worth it and is it really an inconvenience?

Is Skin Testing Really Worth It?

Skin testing can be seen as an inconvenience for many salon guests new and existing to any salon, including ours. Maybe as a guest your pushing to have your hair coloured the next day, or you don’t see the point in making the journey to your salon just for a 2/3 minute task.

However, as a rule our policy ensures all of our team insist on giving correct patch testing and advice and will never consider chemical services because of the potential consequences in both Hair and Beauty services.

"Below is an unfortunate circumstance which is the reason as a brand we never skip a skin test" Says Amy, Salon Director & Careologistst.

      How Skin Testing Works

We apply a pea-sized amount of product to either the crook of the elbow or behind the ear upto 48 hours prior your chemical service. Depending on service this must stay on the skin from 60minutes to 48hours.

If as a guest you have a positive reaction this area will become red, itchy and irritated usually (but not always) within 60minutes. If there is a negative reaction nothing will happen and it is safe for the treatment to take place.

This must be repeated every 4/6 months depending either on insurance or manufacturer policy. It is highly important your skin test is regularly upto date, as repeated exposure to a product can eventually develop into an allergy. Please know; It is not good enough that as a guest you have had the treatment  or a similar service previously elsewhere – you MUST have a skin test with our brand as the product may be produced by a different manufacturer or date has lapsed.

Take on-board; Due to Coronavirus attacking the immune system we also insist any guest who has had Covid-19 contact us prior any chemical service for RE-TESTING. Failure to do so may result in the service been refused until your skin test is clear.
